    Does Hemp Milk Contain CBD?

    Does Hemp Milk Contain CBD?

With the quickly growing CBD fad happening worldwide, it seems everything is infused or made with hemp now. Which has also made it confusing to understand the difference between everything hemp-related; do all hemp products contain CBD? If not, which ones do?

Along with the popularity of hemp, many people are looking for more plant-based alternatives to cow's milk whether it be for dietary reasons or just personal preference. That's where Hemp Milk comes in. Read on to find out everything you need to know about CBD and Hemp Milk.

    What is CBD

    What is CBD?

CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is a cannabinoid found in hemp and cannabis plants. It is produced in the plants along with many other cannabinoids such as CBDa, and other substances such as flavonoids, terpenes, and a plethora of nutrients and fatty acids.

CBD is metabolised by the endocannabinoid system in our bodies and is beginning to be incorporated into a number of different applications in our daily lives, such as dietary supplements, cosmetics, and others.

There is a common misconception regarding CBD, which is that it can cause psychoactive effects, (a.k.a. a “high”), but this is not true. CBD cannot produce any psychoactive effects and has not been known to inhibit the senses in any way.

This misconception is mostly due to the effects produced by cannabis plants due to their high THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) content, which can produce psychoactive effects. However, it is important to know that CBD is not the same as THC and that in countries such as the UK, CBD products can only contain 0.2% THC, which is not enough to produce any psychoactive effects. There are even CBD products with 0% THC for those looking to avoid it altogether.

    Hemp Seed Milk

    What is Hemp Milk?

Hemp Milk is a very popular substitute to dairy milk. It is plant-based, just like almond milk or soy milk, and can be just as nutritious. With the dairy and meat industries under heavy scrutiny and high rates of lactose allergies, more and more people are seeking natural options for a dairy-free lifestyle.

Non-dairy milk comes from the seeds, nuts, grains, beans, or oats of a plant. Hemp Milk is no different and is made from whole hemp seeds. Its flavour is described to be buttery and nutty and it has a creamy consistency.

Hemp milk, like other types of plant-based kinds of milk, is packed with plant protein, healthy fats, and a number of different vitamins and minerals. In fact, hemp milk is theorised to benefit our skin thanks to its nutrients, and could even protect us against heart disease.

The process needed to make hemp milk is incredibly simple. All that is required to make basic hemp milk is hemp seeds and water. The seeds and water are blended at high speed until smooth and then filtered to obtain a silky and creamy milk with no seed particles. Of course, sugar or flavourings can be added to make the milk a bit tastier, but it doesn’t need flavouring according to many.

Does Hemp Milk Have CBD In It?

Both CBD and hemp milk are obtained from hemp plants, therefore hemp milk must contain CBD, right? Wrong.

CBD can only be found in the buds and flowers of female hemp and cannabis plants; not the seeds. So, since hemp milk is made from seeds, it does not contain any CBD (or THC).

Along with the fact that hemp milk is made from the seeds, in order to obtain any significant amounts of CBD, growers must harvest high-CBD producing hemp plants, and these are not the same as the hemp plants used to make hemp milk.

It is safe to say that hemp milk doesn’t contain any CBD (or any THC for that matter). All it contains are the nutrients found in hemp seeds, such as:

    • Omega-3 and Omega-6
    • Protein
    • Calcium
    • Carbohydrates
    • Vitamin B12, A, and D
    • Phosphorus
    • Amino acids

However, if you’re looking for a good source of CBD, there are many other options for you. Below is a list of popular ways to take CBD which might be perfect for you:

    • Water Soluble CBD: This is a very popular way to take CBD because it is practically tasteless, it is easy to mix with any drink of your preference, and it is very versatile in terms of dosages.
    • CBD Oil: CBD Oil is another very popular way to take CBD because it is easy to dose, it is usually diluted in hemp oil or olive oil, and it is a great way to get into taking CBD. Not to mention, it’s portable and easy to take on-the-go.
    • CBD Edibles: For a fun take on CBD, CBD edibles are always a great way to get into taking CBD, and a great way to switch things up! There are CBD chocolates, gummies, food oils, and more!
